Prep Head for the Day
Dear Felsted families,
Last week, I had the privilege of leaving the Prep School in the safe hands of Mr S. Please read on to discover the amazing day he had.
With warm wishes,

Prep Head for the Day - Mr S (Year 3) - Friday 23 January 2025
Last week we were really lucky to have Mr S as our acting Prep Head for the day.
In advance of the day, Mr S authorised a non-uniform day which was met with great excitement from his pupils.
A busy morning started with Mr S attending assembly with Mrs Norris, where he introduced himself to the pupils and they were told about the snacks he had arranged for break time and the use of the MUGA as a Year 3 privilege.
Mr S then visited Hamilton House where Mr Paine gave him a tour of the bedrooms and common room areas. Mr Paine then joined Mr S in his office where they discussed the workings of Hamilton House whilst enjoying sprite and chocolate digestives.
Mr S was interested to know who picked which pupils went in which room when boarding. They discussed ‘lights out’ time, meeting Hamilton the Hamster and meeting Mrs Camp who arranges the ‘sweet’ run for the boarders.

Mr S then went on a walk of the school where he visited the kitchens and checked out how lunch preparation was going. He visited Mr Maclean in his DT room and helped him look for his lanyard, saw Mr Gray and Miss Thorogood’s office, Mr Beskeen’s office and then went to the staff room where he met some of our wonderful domestic services team.
Breaktime arrived so Mr S went and joined his pupils for a kick around in the MUGA and enjoyed a snack of doughnuts and orange squash that he had arranged for Years 3 - 8.
Next it was over to the Senior school where he spent time with the Marketing Team.
He saw how the Marketing team design graphics and then post them on social media and was fascinated to see how they put the newsletter together. Mr S then met Mr Townsend and the two Heads had their photo taken. After that Mr S helped Admissions deliver some certificates and badges for older pupils for Academic Scholarships - whilst doing that he also had a brief tour of Manor House and Mont's House.

Back in the office Mr S dictated an Exeat message to Mrs Greig, for all his pupils, wishing them an enjoyable weekend.
Time for another quick visit to the Courtauld Centre, where Mr S caught up with Mrs Weston-Myers, popped in to see Mrs Thomas and an animated Y4 class who were learning all about meteorological, hydrological and geographical disasters and then a quick hello with Mr Walters.
Next it was lunchtime, a firm favourite with Mr S. This was served in Mr S’ office. Having invited some guests, Felix G, Maxi M & Bamber W, they all tucked into Hot Dogs and chips, more doughnuts & sprite/water.
Once his guests had left, Mr S turned his attention to meeting with the Pupil Voice prefects. Ideas and suggestions were discussed including snacks and lunch choices. Mr S liked the idea of having doughnuts a bit more frequently. Equipment was also discussed that might benefit the school and also the possibility of more water fountains.

A little bit more paperwork came next, where Mr S organised some value certificates to be awarded in the next Phase assembly for some pupils he felt were fun and kind.
To round off the day Mr S and Mrs Kenny had created a Blooket quiz, based on the things Mr S liked. Mr S began by hosting the quiz for 3KP, but enjoyed the Blooket so much he ended up taking part in his own quiz.
Interesting Facts about Mr S:
Mr S is Left Handed & Right Footed.
Mr S goes on the ‘Red Run’ when skiing.
Mr S plays Centre Midfield/Defender for his Sunday Football Team.
Mr S definitely likes doughnuts.
Mr S found using the ‘Newtons Cradle’ on his desk very therapeutic.

We hope Mr S enjoyed his day as much as everyone enjoyed him being our Head.
Three cheers for Mr S!
