Dear Felsted Families,

May I wish you all a Happy New Year and extend a very warm welcome back. It has been wonderful to see the way in which the children have seamlessly returned with such positive approaches to learning.

The Felsted moments have come thick and fast as always but this morning I had the pleasure of popping into Year 4 to welcome one of our new arrivals. I was very quickly invited to join a small group of pupils who were discussing their text, ‘Floodlands’ by Marcus Sedgewick. They shared the context, the background and the author's technique of inspiring the reader to question and predict. All high level skills indeed! Then in a truly joyful moment they confidently explained that this was not ‘just’ an English lesson but it crossed over into their deep dive of natural disasters. The knowledge and skills they were building as ‘Geographers’ would be helping them to fully understand the story! Just brilliant!

This Spring Term 2026 brings with it a wealth of opportunities to enable our learners to move forward and continue to improve their learning across all areas. The opportunities coming up from expanding music skills, representing our school in sport, performing in drama, speech and debate events, representing Leagues and so many more will be highlighted in each week’s newsletter and I know you will join me in looking forward to each one.

Thank you all for such a smooth and positive start and I look forward to seeing you all in the weeks and months ahead.

With warm wishes,

Miranda Norris
