Curiosity, Reflection and Kindness

Curiosity, Reflection and Kindness

Dear Felsted Families,

What a fantastic morning! Years 3 and 4 welcomed over 80 families to a lesson exhibition demonstrating how Humanities teaching, interweaves key skills and concepts, enables our children to question, to think critically and to deeply analyse information. Our learners at Felsted are active participants in their journey and the challenge set remains incredibly high. I would like to express our deepest thanks to our parents who continue to engage and delight in these hands-on experiences. I know that Mrs Paine is busily planning the next immersive event due to take place in the Spring.

Capturing the awe and wonder moments in every lesson is something all our teaching team keep firmly in their minds as they continue to plan for powerful learning moments and I look forward to seeing our curriculum continue to develop alongside our Felsted mathematicians, scientists, sports players, designers, actors, musicians, poets, authors, performers … the list is endless!

My Felsted moment this week also includes our Prep Remembrance service that took place on Tuesday. At the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, we will always remember those who gave their freedom for our tomorrow. The respect demonstrated during the service and beyond helps us feel safe in the knowledge that our youngest pupils are committed to helping us search for peace.

Our Felsted children have been incredibly busy this week, hosting tea and cakes for invited staff guests and paying it forward by helping us to build our positivi-tree once more to celebrate Positive Noticing Day. This day also lands right in the middle of Anti-Bullying Week where we have been challenged to ‘use our power for good.’

I do hope the conversations you have had at home include many of these experiences and I look forward to tomorrow where we continue to pay it forward as a community and spend time reflecting on the message shared by ‘Children in Need.’

With my thanks to our Felsted community for keeping up with all of the events this week (and with many more to come), I wish you all a restful weekend ahead and will no doubt see some of our older families at Harry Potter and the Cursed Child performances.

With warm wishes,

Miranda Norris
