Crafting Beautiful Human Beings

Crafting Beautiful Human Beings

Dear Felsted Families,

I am writing this newsletter from Stratford-upon-Avon, after spending the day with Heads from both near and far, including Chile and Italy! Being a part of the HMC Junior Heads’ Conference reinforces the strength of the independent sector and the value it places on education for all our learners. One of our inspirational speakers, Nina Jackson, spoke about how we are all working together in our communities to ‘craft beautiful human beings.’

With that amazing thought, let me take you through the recent experiences that help craft our Felsted learners across music, drama, and sport!

‘Swing into Spring 2025’ last week was simply stunning! The Young Voices Choir, Steel Bands and beautiful jazz and musical performances, had us all singing, clapping, and dancing! Thank you to all our amazing performers and to our whole-school Music and Tech teams for helping to nurture a host of young musicians.

Bugsy Malone rehearsals are also in full swing this week, and I cannot contain my excitement ahead of this immersive drama experience.

I have also been following the fabulous tales of sporting success across the Prep School this week.

The U13A netball girls have qualified for their National Finals in Cranleigh on Monday, and Miss Ellis is incredibly proud of the entire team. We are wishing them the very best of luck as they travel down on Sunday!

The Prep squash players took centre stage this week at the U16 English National Schools Squash Championships Finals Day at Edgbaston Priory Club in Birmingham. Being awarded silver medals as the youngest team in this category caused a whoop from Mr. Pilcher, and marked yet another national achievement for Felsted! Well done to all our squash players.

News just in from Mr Fincher - after an exhausting day, the U13 Rugby 7s have qualified for the National Playoffs at Northampton Saints next term!

On a final note about today’s conference, we have been learning more about the value of sleep! Rest and recovery are essential for humans to perform at their very best. To all our families, I hope this Exeat weekend provides the opportunity for plenty of rest. It takes a huge amount of energy to perform, play, and compete, and I cannot wait to see the results as we head towards the summer!

With warm wishes,

Miranda
