Collaboration and Positivity

Collaboration and Positivity

Dear Felsted families,

The start of a new term brings opportunities both for looking forwards and for reflection and celebration. In our assembly this week, we focused on respect and started to think about how we build and develop character. Our Cromwell pupil-led chapel service today also focused on sharing personal stories of perseverance and how - despite challenges - the determination to keep trying makes for very powerful stories and impact.

I would like to take the opportunity to share something very special. In one of our Year 5 forms, a young lady called Charlotte has stepped into her term as the Form Captain. This is a role that is shared amongst a few members of the class over the year. It follows an application process which enables the children to demonstrate their early leadership skills.

Charlotte has taken the time to create a bespoke comments box so that she can gather thoughts and suggestions from her form. One of her first actions has been to write to each member of the form with the following message:

“I am excited about the opportunity to represent and support our class this term as your Form Captain.

I believe that, together, we can create a classroom filled with laughter and success, where every student can be the hero of their own tale. I want to ensure that our classroom is a place of kindness, courage, harmony and joy. Where everyone feels valued and heard, and we work together to achieve our goals. I am passionate about our school and want to help to make it a better place for everyone.”

The letter goes on to introduce the comments box but with extra power. The focus on finding solutions and measuring the impact of suggestions for the school illustrates the careful thought that has been put into this initiative.

I love these words and wanted to share them with you all in the hope that we can all feel inspired to continue to work together collaboratively and positively.

Let’s have an amazing summer term!

With warm wishes,

Miranda
