Celebrating Our Boarding Culture and the Final Weeks of Term

As we return from Half Term and step into the final stage of the academic year, we hope that all members of our Felsted community enjoyed a restful and enjoyable break. The sunshine was certainly welcome while it lasted, even if this week has brought a little more rain than we might have hoped for! With just four weeks of the Summer Term remaining, we now look ahead to what is always one of the most vibrant and memorable periods in the Felsted calendar.

The Summer Term is a time to shine. Not only for those sitting public examinations, but for the whole community as we come together for concerts, sporting fixtures, House feasts, and, of course, our end of year celebrations. These shared moments remind us of the strength, warmth and spirit that define Felsted.

A particularly special part of this final stretch is the opportunity it offers for leadership and service. Across our boarding and day Houses, pupils will be stepping into new roles, welcoming younger students, and preparing for the transition into next year’s programme. This is where our boarding‑led culture truly shines, shaping character, building independence, and nurturing the confidence to lead with integrity.
 

The boarding culture sits at the heart of Felsted life. It is a huge part of what makes our community so inspirational and it is often the reason why many families from across the world choose Felsted as their home. Our boarding ethos strengthens academic performance, encourages responsibility and fosters the habits that help young people thrive, not just in school, but in life. 

As we look ahead to next year, we encourage any families considering boarding, or increasing the number of nights their child stays, to speak with their Housemaster or Housemistress. Many parents find that the right structure and support during the week allows family life to feel less rushed and more connected, and early conversations help us plan effectively and ensure that every pupil is placed in the environment that best supports their wellbeing. 

These final weeks of term are full of opportunity, to lead, to serve, to celebrate, and to finish the year with pride. Look out for our ‘Time to Shine’ celebrations on social media and the website, recognising those Felsted moments, both big and small, that help young people grow into confident and capable individuals.  We look forward to sharing them with you.
