An Attitude of Gratitude

Dear Felsted families,

There are moments in the school year that serve as a perfect mirror, reflecting the heart, soul, and gratitude of our community back at us. This week, we have had several such moments that left our staff feeling immensely proud of the deep connections that bring us all together.

One of our core focuses this term is to 'live and breathe' a culture of appreciation, aka ‘an attitude of gratitude’. While we see this in the small things every day, that spirit of thankfulness was highlighted in beautiful, visible ways across our whole school community this week in particular.
 

Our week began with a wonderful Thank You Morning dedicated to our amazing Class Representatives. Our reps are a completely vital part of the Felsted family; their positive support is truly the golden thread that runs throughout our community, helping to strengthen the essential partnerships and communication between home and school.

We remain incredibly grateful for their dedication, and it was a pure joy to witness how the children were able to thank them personally for their invaluable role.

As we near the moment when we introduce the children to their new class teachers, we will be writing to you all to invite you to continue as a class rep, or to warmly welcome those who would like to join the team. Please look out for further exciting information about this over the coming weeks.

This spirit of collaboration tied beautifully into the Friends of Felsted Whole School Committee AGM, which it was an absolute privilege to attend this week. Spending time reflecting together on the development of both governance and trustee oversight, alongside a continued commitment to fundraising and community relationships, was a genuine pleasure.

There were so many wonderful successes to celebrate as we looked back on the year:

• The spectacular atmosphere of the Annual Ball
• The ongoing, tireless commitment of our Second-Hand Uniform Team
• The incredible community success of the Christmas Fair

Each of these moments strengthens our community spirit in immeasurable ways. A heartfelt thank you must go to our Friends of Felsted Trustees. Their visionary guidance, boundless energy, and quiet dedication behind the scenes truly form the bedrock of our school's social heart and they care deeply, work selflessly, and bring our community closer together.

Looking ahead, we are all so excited for the Friends of Felsted Family Fun Day on Saturday, 20 June. All ages are warmly welcome to join in the fun, and I look forward to seeing many of you there for a wonderful day together.

Finally, I want to highlight the inspirational work of our Lord Riche’s League Leaders this week. They led our Chapel Service with immense maturity, inspiring us all with the rich history behind our long-standing partnership with the Felsted Mission.

Taking these lessons of compassion out into the wider world, many of our pupils visited the Mission this week to extend our collective gratitude to the volunteers who work tirelessly throughout the year. These dedicated individuals manage everything from:

• Critical local food banks
• Night shelters for the vulnerable
• Holistic support for all members of the community

This is true service in action, and it beautifully exemplifies why taking the time to say "thank you" matters so deeply to who we are as Felstedians.
