A Culture of Kindness and Respect
Thank you to all the parents and staff who have engaged with the various meetings that have been looking at possible changes to the structure of Felsted. It has been incredibly useful to hear so many different voices, and we will now be talking with Governors this weekend, before providing a proper update to everyone during the course of next week. The driving force behind this is to ensure that the pupil experience is the best that it can be.
Thank you also for your patience as the recruitment process has continued to appoint the next Head of Felsted School. This week, the school has been visited by the candidates on the shortlist, who have been finding out more about Felsted, before the final round of interviews takes place next week. Assuming that everything goes according to plan, this means that the Governors should be able to announce the new appointment before the end of this term.
This weekend, as well as a full range of fixtures, we are hosting the Friends of Felsted Christmas Fair. This is the first time that it will have been based over at the senior school, and I would encourage you to come and have a look at what is on offer. As well as the traditional stalls, there will be a number of pupil stalls as well, and I know how much they would like your support for their work and the school charities. The Fair runs from 1pm to 4pm on Saturday, and will be hosted in the Lord Riche Hall, the BKA and the courtyard around the Christmas tree. For those who are supporting matches, there will be match teas, but they are going to be a bit different from normal!
This week, in Assembly, I spoke to the school about my experience on inspection. The school that I visited had a very strong culture of kindness and respect, and I have urged the pupils to focus on those two qualities in the coming weeks. As we get tired towards the end of a long term, it is unsurprising if some people find patience in short supply and kindness can disappear. If we can all think of others, and how we can help them through this, that will improve the end of term for everyone.
Finally, I would like to encourage as many parents as possible to come along to the House Receptions on Thursday 11 December at 6.30pm, and then on to the school Carol Service at 7.30pm. The receptions are a great opportunity to mix with other parents and the Carol Service is a real highlight of the year, with the choir's singing a special way to head into the festive period.
Have a great weekend when we get there, and hope to see many of you at the Christmas Fair and even more of you at the Carol Service!
Chris
