The final half term of the school year has begun in earnest. I thoroughly enjoy these few weeks as academic rigour is supported and celebrated with so much co-curricular activity.
Our Year 7 and 8’s finished their assessments on Wednesday and I must applaud them for their endeavour and tenacity. The Year 7’s have now started their Leadership Challenge and Mr Fincher and myself are looking forward to speaking with them all next week about their thoughts on leadership, service and responsibility.
The Year 5 and 6 production of ‘The Little Mermaid’ is taking shape beautifully. The acting, singing and dancing are a real treat, and as for the set and costumes…….! The children and staff have worked incredibly hard this term in putting on a wonderful show, which, I hope as many of you as possible will see next week. I would like to thank them for their energy and sense of fun in advance of the performance!
The Year 8 Leavers’ Programme begins today with First Aid, Life-Saving and Orienteering training before they head off to Llangorse next week on their Leadership, Teamwork and Adventure training.
I know that the Pre Prep parents have enjoyed their transition afternoons where they have met their child’s form tutor(s) for next year. The children all have their transition days next week too – much excitement!
Today we have a number of our pupils at the IAPS East Area Athletics Championships in Bedford. I wish them all the very best of luck as they run, jump and throw to the best of their abilities.
Tomorrow is a very busy Saturday! Firstly, I would like to wish our swimmers all the very best as they head off to the IAPS National Swimming Championships at the London Aquatic Centre. It is an awesome and inspirational venue and I know they will relish the occasion. I’m very sorry not to be able to attend personally as we have the Induction Morning for our new Year 7 pupils, as well as hosting two cricket festivals!
Here’s to a very purposeful, enjoyable and successful week!
