Year 2 Bring Great Fire of London to Life
Year 2's Great Fire of London topic has been embedded into every area of their learning, and they have had so much fun bringing the topic to life.

Earlier in the term they had a thrilling day immersing themselves into life in London in 1666. The day started with the children creating the scene learning about the trades and jobs of the time and gaining an understanding of how busy the streets of London were.

The afternoon then put the children into a story of how the fire started with each child playing their part to try to put the fire out and to think about why the fire spread so quickly to destroy the city.

In art the pupils worked on creating their own timber-framed 3D houses which they used to build a replica of the City of London complete with River Thames. Later in the term they then had a very exciting afternoon at Forest School, with Mrs Pickford started a fire with a tiny spark and pupils were amazed at how quickly the fire took hold and destroyed their model city. To celebrate this exciting event, we enjoyed toasting marshmallows over the fire and making s’mores!
