Top University Offers in Humanities Subjects

by Ms L Scofield, Director of Professional Guidance

Humanities subjects are always popular choices among Felsted students, who have their love of these subjects nurtured throughout the Sixth Form with some excellent extra opportunities such as reading and discussion groups.

Both our Oxbridge offers this year are in humanities subjects, with IB student Maria T accepting an offer to read German at Oxford, and A Level student Matt H accepting one to read History at Cambridge.

Liberal Arts is becoming a more popular option, as students look to combine a number of disciplines to create a bespoke degree. Margot A, who studies A Levels and was a memorable Belle in last year's Beauty and the Beast, is holding an offer for Liberal Arts at Nottingham University which will enable her to combine subjects such as Philosophy with her love for Drama.

Tom C also has a strong interest in linked subjects, relishing intellectual discussion of topics in Philosophy and Politics, and is set to take up an offer to read Anthropology at Durham. Joe S, who studies the IB, has a great offer to read PPE at Warwick and talented playwright, and deputy Head Girl Frankie S holds an offer to read English at Kings College, London. Jasmine K holds an offer to read English and Creative Writing at Exeter, which she will combine with Officer training for the Army, who are sponsoring her through her degree.

Sport and Academic Scholar, Fiora M has an offer to read Modern Languages & Cultures at Durham. Durham have also offered Will B a place to pursue his passion for History and Maddie S an offer to read History and Modern European Languages.

Exeter remains a popular choice for our Felstedians with Hugo C holding an offer to read History, Clementine D to read Geography and Jasmine I-S to read English.

IB student and Tennis Captain, Jason W-M, has a good offer to read Geosciences & Sustainable Energy at Royal Holloway, a course that has become increasingly popular as students wish to make a difference to our planet for future generations.
