Top University Offers for Felsted Pupils

The start of a new term at Felsted has seen some excellent university offers for pupils so far, with 136 offers from Russell Group Universities, including three from Oxbridge, 22 from Exeter, 18 from Nottingham and 13 from Leeds and Newcastle.

Imogen Gander has received an offer of 41 points to read Classics at Girton College, Cambridge. Imogen is studying the International Baccalaureate Diploma, and as a gifted and talented student has studied above her natural year group since the age of five. As an Academic and Music scholar, Imogen immerses herself in all areas of Felsted life, including a love of Music and Netball, as well as recently playing the lead role of Cosette in the Felsted production of Les Misérables.

Imogen comments; “I am delighted to have received an offer to study Classics at Cambridge. I am so pleased that I have been able to make the most of the opportunities that Felsted has given me in order to achieve my goals. I know that I will have to work hard to make sure that I achieve my target grades and am looking forward to the rewards that this will bring.”

Felsted Head Boy, Will Barker, has been given an offer of 3 As to read Philosophy, Politics and Economics, at Keble College, Oxford starting in September 2018.

Will, an Academic and Sport scholar at Felsted, was recently awarded the Dorian Fisher Memorial Prize in an essay competition run by the Institute of Economic Affairs. He is also a keen rugby player who represented Felsted 1st XV at Allianz Park in last year’s NatWest Cup National Semi-Final.

Speaking about his success, Will comments; “I am very pleased with my offer and excited at the prospect of starting at Oxford in September. I would like to say a big thank you to all my teachers at Felsted for their help and support.”

Hannah Barratt, who was Felsted’s top scorers in her A Levels last summer, has received an offer to read German and Linguistics at Oriel College, Oxford. Whilst at Felsted, Hannah was an Academic and Music scholar and a School Prefect. She balanced her studies with a love of singing, performing at many events including Felsted’s Swing Into Spring and Summer Concerts.

Felsted offers excellent support for those applying to Oxbridge, with students attending Oxbridge style tutorials in their chosen fields and having the opportunity to practise their interview skills. The School is also developing a strategy to put pupils in touch with former Felstedians currently studying at Oxford or Cambridge to support them with the application process.
