by Felix Sanchez del Rio, Head of Spanish
22 Spanish students, from Yr9 to U6, accompanied by Mrs R Grant, Mrs D Guerrero and myself, spent most of their half term break in Cadiz, Spain as part of a language immersion programme which saw our pupils attend Spanish lessons in a prestigious local Languages School in the mornings and completing a series of cultural visits and activities in the afternoons.
These activities included visits to a camera obscura, local museums and archeological sites, a beginners surfing course and a day trip to Seville. Our students were hosted by carefully selected local families who provided them with breakfast, evening meals and a bed, plus an invaluable integration in their family life.
The behaviour and attitude of the Felstedians attending this trip was impeccable from beginning to end, and they made themselves, their teachers and Felsted School proud.
The Cadiz trip was sensational, the best trip ever, and one that I hope to go on again. The Spanish teachers welcomed us with open arms, as well as our host families, who did an amazing job at keeping us fed with lots of Spanish delicacies. I had a great time with my friends on the beach, as well as in the Spanish lessons, and none of us wanted to leave. Will (Yr 9)
Cadiz was a spectacular trip, the eventful fun-packed week was full of great moments. We visited many breath-taking monuments and forged some unforgettable memories. We all thoroughly enjoyed the Spanish lessons and we were all taught a lot of unexpected but also useful vocabulary. Alex (Yr 9)
