Congratulations to Matthew H for achieving a Commendation for his entry to Oxford University's prestigious Julia Wood Prize. The competition attracts entries from the best young historians in the country, so Matthew deserves a huge amount of credit.

The adjudicators wrote as follows about Matthew's scholarly, wide-ranging and well crafted essay on the Great Awakening, a religious revival in the North American colonies during the 18th century: 'the Committee were greatly impressed by the quality of your essay, and would like to award you a Commendation. I hope you’ll find this pleasing news; congratulations on producing such high-quality work.'
 

We are immensely proud of Matthew's achievement and having proven that he can work at undergraduate level, he is now in an enviably strong position in terms of applying for History at university.
