A massive well done to Felsted’s James Preston on his offer of an apprenticeship with Lloyds of London, starting in September 2021.  This is an incredible achievement, as he was chosen from 9500 applicants with only 4 apprenticeship places available. 

James joined Felsted as a boarder in Deacons in 2014 and is studying BTEC PE and an A Level in DT. James is a hockey scholar, sponsored by Grays hockey; plays for the School’s first team and for his club’s Men’s first team.  James is a diligent and hard working pupil with superb communication skills. Despite COVID, he has managed to undertake work experience with Lochain Patrick Insurance Brokers, Burgau Sports Centre and Allianz Insurance company. 
 

James says “I am delighted to be offered the apprenticeship and am surprised and excited to have reached my goal. The interview process was long and stressful; it started with an online video interview which was a new experience for me. The next stage came a couple of weeks later in mid March.  Due to COVID restrictions and for the first time ever, this stage of the assessment was online. Over three days, a written exercise, competency based interviews and group tasks took place, followed by a long wait at the end for the result. I want to say thank you to every member of staff at Felsted who has helped me in my application and in every stage of my education to support me.”
