International Baccalaureate Diploma Results 2022

Felsted is delighted to announce excellent results in the 2022 IB Diploma Programme. Every Felsted pupil undertaking the challenging International Baccalaureate Diploma in 2022 passed with flying colours, achieving an average point score of 36 out of 45, well exceeding the global average of 31.98.

Nearly 20% of Felsted’s IB candidates achieved a world-class score of 40 points or above, which is equivalent to four A*s at A level, and more than half achieved more than 35 points, equivalent to two A*s and one A at A Level.

With such impressive results under their belts, this year's cohort have secured places at some of the world’s top universities, including Felsted student Titus Zangemeister, from Hamburg, whose near-perfect score of 44 points out of a possible 45 means he has more than met his offer to read Physics at Imperial College London, although he is also considering options abroad. Other Felsted IB students will be taking up university places at Bristol, Warwick, Queen Mary’s, Exeter, Newcastle, Bocconi (Milan) and Northeastern (US)

“This is an excellent set of results from a superb group of students.” Comments Felsted’s Head, Chris Townsend. “Similar to the last two years, this year’s students have coped remarkably well after being disrupted by factors beyond their control and the class of 2022 can be extremely proud of the hard work that they have put in to achieve these exceptional results. We wish them every success as they move on to their next stage of education or into the workplace.”

"The IB is a globally recognised qualification,” says Felsted’s Director of IB, Karen Woodhouse. “Felsted is one of only a relatively small number of UK schools to have long experience of offering this wide curriculum as an alternative to A levels and our candidates achieve consistently high results, which open the door to the world’s top universities and careers. One of the best things about this global qualification at Felsted is the cosmopolitan nature of the cohort taking the course, with students from the UK, Italy, Germany, Kazakhstan, Russia and Bosnia and Herzegovina."

Felsted’s top scoring IB candidate

Felsted’s top scorer, with a remarkable score of 44 points (out of a total of 45), was Titus Zangemeister from Hamburg in Germany. Titus and his family moved over to the UK 8 years ago when Titus joined Felsted Prep School as a day student. More recently, his family has moved back to Hamburg, and Titus has finished his time as one of our full boarders.

As well as his academic prowess, Titus has been a School Prefect and the founder and editor of the pupil magazine ‘The Source’, which publishes student articles on a broad range of academic, social and political topics. Titus’ sister, Julia, is also at Felsted, and scored the winning goal for the Under 16 Hockey team in their national final victory earlier this year. Titus has met his offer to read Physics at Imperial College London, although he is also considering other options abroad.
