Felsted School Celebrates Outstanding GCSE Success

Felsted pupils are celebrating an exceptional set of GCSE results this summer, marking a further rise in academic achievement and the school’s strongest performance since the pandemic with almost half of all entries graded 9-7 (equivalent to A*/A). 68% achieved 9-6 and nearly a third of all exams were graded 9-8.
 

With an overall increase in top grades compared to last year, this cohort has demonstrated remarkable commitment, ambition and resilience across all areas of school life.

Alongside their academic studies, pupils have embraced the full breadth of Felsted’s co‑curricular programme, from sport and music to drama, service projects and leadership roles. These experiences have enriched their learning, broadened their horizons and equipped them with the confidence and curiosity that will serve them well as they progress into Felsted Sixth Form. With even more opportunities ahead, they are poised to take advantage of the diverse pathways available to them.

This year’s GCSE success follows Felsted’s strong A Level, International Baccalaureate Diploma and BTEC outcomes earlier in the summer, reinforcing the school’s reputation for academic excellence and its commitment to supporting every pupil to achieve their personal best.

Felsted GCSE 2026 - Key Highlights: 

• Nearly 50% of all entries were graded 9-7 (A*/A)
• Of Felsted’s top set GCSE pupils (representing the equivalent of a grammar school intake), 87% of all exams were graded 9-7
• In Latin, a third of pupils achieved grade 9 
• In Sciences & Further Maths, more than three quarters of pupils achieved 9-7 (A*-A)
• In the creative arts, Art pupils achieved 100% 9-6 (A*-B), three quarters DT & Drama pupils were graded  9-6 and in Music

Their achievements span far beyond the exam hall: they shine in the classroom, on the sports pitches, on stage, in music, in boarding houses, and in the many ways they support one another and our wider community”

This summer’s GCSE, A Level, IB and BTEC outcomes reflect the strength of our academic provision and the dedication of our staff, but they also speak to the character, kindness and determination of our pupils. Felsted’s top achievers, Jack R, Lucas Y and Anya I, secured a clean sweep of top marks, achieving an outstanding total of 30 grade 9s between them. All three have made the very most of their time at Felsted, fully embracing the breadth of the all‑round education and opportunities available to them.

A keen sportsman, Jack reflected on his experience: “Felsted has been an enriching and supportive community, and I’m looking forward to continuing on my path towards a career in either investment banking or professional rugby.”

For Lucas, a standout moment during his GCSE studies was being crowned the 2026 Felsted Musician of the Year. Alongside continuing his passion for Music, Lucas is excited to begin Sixth Form and pursue a future in either Medicine or Nuclear Physics.

Meanwhile Anya, who joined Felsted in Year 7 has “relished [her] time at Felsted so much” and plans to continue on at Felsted Sixth Form to study Spanish, Geography and Psychology along with an EPQ with the hopes of studying humanities and social sciences in the future. Outside of the classroom Anya is passionate about sports and dancing; and currently plays for Felsted’s first team in both Hockey and Tennis.
