Felsted is delighted to announce it’s best ever performance in the IB Diploma Programme, with an average point score of 37 out of a possible 45, and a 100% pass rate for our 39 students sitting this highly regarded international qualification.

Across all subjects 92% of results were a Level 5 or better (equivalent to a B grade at A level) and 70% a Level 6 or 7 (equivalent to an A or A* at A level).

"Once more, this year has been disrupted by factors beyond their control, but all of our students can be incredibly proud of the hard work that they have put in over the last two years to achieve this exceptional qualification.  We wish them every success as they move on from Felsted to further education, and fully expect them to continue to flourish.

This has been Felsted's 13th year entering students for the IB, and the benefits of the qualification seem to increase each year. I would like to thank all of the teachers for their hard work and support of all of our students, especially Mrs Karen Woodhouse our Director of IB."

Among our IB candidates, 12 students achieved 40 points or more (equivalent to 4 A* grades at A Level), with 27 achieving 35 points or more (equivalent of 3 A grades at A Level).  Students hold offers from some of the best universities around the world, in countries as diverse as Canada, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Spain the USA and of course the UK, with offers for Durham, Exeter, KCL, Oxford and Warwick among others. 

This year's top performer, Alexandra Lang, is Felsted's first ever IB candidate to score the maximum 45 points! A full boarder from Munich, Alexandra is applying to read Medicine in Germany. She joined Felsted in the Sixth Form as an Academic Scholar and has fully immersed herself in boarding school life, including playing tennis for the school. “I have thoroughly enjoyed my two years at Felsted.

Also with a world class score is Matilde Colombo, who achieved 44 points out of a maximum of 45. A full boarder from Italy, Matilde is applying to read Medicine in Ireland. She joined Felsted Sixth Form as a Hunter Scholar, given to a pupil who shows exceptional promise in the Sciences. She also represented the school as a Prefect in her final year.

Francesca Slater achieved a world class 43 points in the IB. She exceeded her university offers to read English and is now planning to apply to Oxbridge next year. Franky, who joined Felsted in the Prep School, is both an Academic and Music Scholar, and fully immersed herself with all the opportunities on offer at Felsted.

She was Deputy Head Girl, RQMS in the CCF and performed in every major Felsted music event, achieving her ARSM Diploma in Flute in her final year. Franky, who also took on a number of leading roles in Felsted’s drama productions, including Mrs Potts in ‘Beauty and the Beast’, succeeded in gaining a place with the prestigious National Youth Theatre, as well as writing a play that was long-listed for the prestigious National Theatre New Views Festival!

She comments; “I am so happy to have had 10 brilliant years at Felsted, I have enjoyed them enormously!”

• Felix Holmes, from Mexico, who will go on to read PPE at Warwick University.
• Marlene Staelin, from Hamburg, who will study Dentistry at Semmelweis University in Hungary.
• Gaia Colombi, from Italy, who has achieved her offer to read Psychology at Durham.
• Aliya Broich, a weekly boarder from Brentwood, aims to read Psychology at a top university after a gap year.
• Scarlett Walker-Hebborn, a full boarder from Rainham, has exceeded her offer to read Product & Industrial Design at Central St Martins, University of Arts, London.
• Milly Adshead-Grant, from Cressing, who has met her offer to read Medicine at Kings’ College London.
• Carla Jockenhoefer, Luna-Marie Lakman and Mimi Maack, all from Germany, plan to continue their studies at a German university.

Other highlights include Sebastian Martinez-Minett, who is off to read International Relations at British Columbia in Canada, and Archie Pritchard, who has been accepted onto the PWC Flying Start Degree Apprenticeship Programme via Nottingham University.
Students were not able to sit the examinations this summer but the International Baccalaureate Organisation calculated grades based on the coursework students completed for each subject and grades predicted by the school.
