Felsted Fun in the Forest

Felsted School welcomed pre-school children to their on-site Forest School for a fun session based around the book ‘We’re Going on Bear Hunt’.

To get to the Felsted woods, the children had to follow paw prints left by FelsTed that led them into a quick game of ‘1,2,3 where are you’ to get them familiar with the area.  The day was child-led, allowing the young explorers to choose from a selection of experiences including bug hunting with magnifying glasses, dinosaur watching with binoculars, den building, woodland jewellery creations and everyone’s personal favourite, making ‘mud soup’ in the mud kitchen!

There was also a well-earned break in the middle, where children and their parents sat around the campfire, for the story of ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’, with toasted marshmallows and hot chocolate!

Felsted’s on-site Forest School makes up part of their pupils’ creative curriculum, encouraging them to develop independence, resilience, improve decision-making and language and raise self-esteem.
