Country Life Names Felsted in Top ‘25 long-established pillars of learning’
The quintessentially English publication Country Life has included Felsted in its selection of long-established schools that have ‘stood the test of time… to provide 21st-century-style
Education’.
The article entitled ‘Ancient and modern’, which appears in the 30 August 2023 issue, includes a report on the independent co-educational boarding and day school in north Essex alongside schools including Dulwich College, Eton, Harrow, Rugby and Westminster.
After summarising Felsted’s foundation in 1564 by Richard Riche, 1st Baron Riche, and drawing attention to the school’s 90-acre village campus and its move to co-education in 1970, the Country Life article praises sport as ‘an important element… the school has a history of producing Olympians (current count is 21), a legacy that dates back to London 1908.’ Felsted’s ‘solid international relations’ are also highlighted.
It is always an honour for Felsted to be chosen for inclusion in the pages of Country Life. The school certainly has a very long history of providing an excellent academic education, as well as opportunities for our pupils to discover their strengths and passions for sports and the arts. Today we also work hard to prepare them for success and happiness in adulthood and to make a difference in a future that will offer many new opportunities. Chris Townsend, Head
In June 2023 Felsted was named Boarding School of the Year at the TES Schools Awards.
