A Level English ‘Measure for Measure’ trip

by Ilyd Thomas, Yr 13

On Tuesday, 19 November Felsted’s A Level English students travelled to London to see a performance of William Shakespeare's ‘Measure for Measure’ in the Barbican theatre. Being able to watch the play we are studying, performed on stage, allowed us to strengthen our understanding as well as gain an insight into how Shakespeare had intended his work to be performed.

We all thoroughly enjoyed the production, from the comedic one-liners to the un-humorous scenes of utter seriousness, seeing the text brought to life was fascinating and has enabled us to develop our opinions of the play, which we can now apply to our written work.

At a time of political upheaval, and in the #metoo era, this play is arguably more relevant than ever. We thoroughly recommend a trip to the Barbican to see this production!
