Felsted School: The best experience for our international pupils
All our international boarders have shown true character this past year, with all the additional quarantine and testing procedures they have had to endure alongside the challenges of online learning in different time zones. It is this character development, alongside the exceptional care that Felsted has provided, that has strengthened our boarding community more than ever. This was encapsulated in a quote from one of our international agents;
“The best pastoral care among our all partner schools! As an educational agency working with different UK boarding schools, I have been deeply impressed by the outstanding way that Felsted takes care of their boarding students during this pandemic. Felsted has continuously provided the best physical and mental care to all their international students. All my students feel safe and happy and of course parents are so relieved.”
- Felsted kept its boarding houses open throughout the pandemic for those students unable to get home, unlike many schools who closed their doors. Our staff went out of their way to ease the anxiety of our families, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of children in our care. A full programme of activity was put on each day, ensuring a superb balance of academic, social and physical activity to ensure the best outcome for each individual student. One of many pupil quotes:

- Felsted Summer School 2020 was moved online to accommodate over 600 students around the world, engaging them with interactive and powerful content on global affairs. This unique course was refreshed and run several times throughout the year to support our own boarders at school in lockdown but was also extended to support other schools who needed to provide a programme for their quarantining pupils, including Millfield, AKS Lytham and Dover College plus overseas schools in Ghana and Argentina.
Our international community was kept alive through lockdown with active engagement via our social channels (#FelstedatHome) and also through many virtual events such as music recitals and collaborations, virtual speech and sports days, virtual camp outs, quizzes and the most popular virtual House Feasts, where all families cooked and celebrated online together. A video of Felsted Boarding 2020 was put together to reassure families around the world that our provision was safe for pupils to return in September.
Felsted ran a Virtual Global Symposium during Easter 2021 for over 1000 students from around the world, to connect and engage through a range of topical issues, including professional keynote speakers and virtual excursions. Watch their review video here to find out the impact it had on so many.
