Model United Nations
Model United Nations (MUN) Conferences present a unique opportunity for school pupils to consider very deeply the real-world issues of the day and to develop an understanding of the international co-operation needed to make a difference.
Felsted MUN:
As part of Felsted’s commitment to promoting international understanding among young people, the school hosts two Model United Nations (MUN) Conferences annually – one for Senior Schools and one for Prep Schools. These two-day events attract hundreds of students from state and independent schools across the UK and around the world to take part. Pupils also have many opportunities throughout the year to attend other MUN conferences held both at local schools, and abroad in locations suchas The Hague.
What MUN Conferences involve:
Pupils represent UN nations and are allocated to committees, mirroring real-world UN organisations - including the Security Council, Historic Security Council, UNICEF and UNOOSA. Over the course of the Conference, they discuss important global issues, practising their skills of debating, communication and strategic thinking to voice their nominated nation’s opinions and suggest solutions to bring about positive change.
