Senior Programme
Your child may already be fully conversant in English or perhaps this is the perfect time for them to experience a taste of British boarding school life. Whatever stage they are at, our Summer School will have something to offer a growing and learning teenager. Our Senior Programme provides the perfect balance of stimulating lessons, fun activities and cultural experiences.
Each student can shape their own timetable based on their level of English and personal interests to make their summer experience the best it can possibly be.
Studying abroad can be daunting for some but we know students quickly make solid friendships with other children from different corners of the world, enhancing their global understanding. Students embrace the experience and leave as engaged global citizens. Their timetable is busy but it is broken down into different sections each day for variety and enjoyment.
We’re thrilled to offer a fully refreshed academic programme designed to inspire and challenge students. We’ve ensured exceptional value, delivering top-tier education with hands-on learning and cutting-edge teaching methods.
Online Assessments
This year, we are introducing AI-enhanced, adaptive online assessment for our English placement tests. This means we can place students accurately in classes and let parents know the placement before students arrive at Summer School.
MemoryLab
We are excited to introduce MemoryLab! Felsted MemoryLab is a fun and dynamic digital learning tool for all students that turns mastering vocabulary into an exciting adventure. Whether in class or as part of our afternoon club, students will boost their memory power and perfect their vocabulary and subject knowledge through personalised learning goals and interactive challenges.
Academic Pathways
There are two Academic Pathways to choose from: English and Global Studies.
English
This pathway is ideal for students eager to rapidly improve their English language skills and build confidence in communication. On the first day, students will undergo an assessment to ensure they are placed in the class that best matches their current proficiency level.
Global Studies
This pathway explores advanced topics and global issues. It is designed for students with a strong command of the English language. It is perfect for those passionate about complex subjects who want to deepen their understanding of the world. An advanced level of English comprehension is required to participate in this pathway.
Important Note: Students must choose their pathway before arrival and cannot change pathways once the programme begins.
Academies
In addition to choosing an academic pathway, students may also choose one of our many academy options to enhance their learning over a two week period.
Academy Options
Clubs
Children may also choose a co-curricular option such as music, cookery, drama or photography, though it could also include a sports option such as badminton or basketball.
Reflection
Reflection sessions, held for one hour four evenings a week, aim to foster self-awareness, enhance emotional intelligence, and promote positive mental health.
Each session integrates mindfulness practices like guided meditation, explores mental health topics, and includes journaling for self-reflection. Participants also engage in activities related to the UK boarding experience, project-based activities, group discussions, and team-building exercises. This comprehensive approach supports personal growth and emotional well-being.
Evening Social Programme
A vast and varied social programme to encourage as much interaction between the students as possible. This ranges from competitions and talent shows, to themed discos and whole school debates!
Excursions
Students will be taken on three exciting trips per week. These differ each week to expose them to different elements of English culture at the same time as being a fun and actively enjoyable experience.
What an amazing experience! My role was as a local student working alongside international pupils and I was amazed how much everyone's English improved in such a short space of time. We all loved the fun activities such as paintballing, trampolining and our visits to London and Cambridge. I will remember my time fondly, especially helping my Colombian and Nigerian friends to understand the rules and play the game of cricket!
