• Passport / Visa (if required) – Please ensure each student has their flight tickets / details. 
• Pocket Money – We recommend £50 per week.
•  The United Kingdom is an increasingly cashless country, and many places no longer accept cash payment. If you are able to bring a debit / credit card or travel card, this is preferred. 
• An Adaptor (to convert plugs to UK standard three pin 220v system)
• A lockable suitcase is recommended
• An umbrella + a light waterproof jacket (essential!)
• A re-usable water bottle  
• A towel
• A small rucksack  
• A swimming suit                                   
• A pencil case with all essentials for academic lessons
• Toiletries – Toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, shower gel, shampoo, conditioner etc.
• Please remember sun cream!
• Sports Clothing & Equipment (Students are welcome to bring their own tennis racquet at their own risk if they wish, though all sport equipment is provided at Felsted). 
• Students are welcome to bring their own musical instruments. They are welcome to keep them in our musical instrument storage room in the music block at their own risk.

We recommend £50.00 per week. 

Please note that Felsted is a cashless site, so we require all students to bring a debit/ money card.  Most excursions in the UK operate as cashless.

Our campus is very safe. The campus has an onsite security team and additional security provision which monitors the grounds 24/7. All boarding houses have secure entries and everyone onsite is required to wear a Felsted I.D badge.

In the event that your child requires medical attention whilst at Felsted International Summer School, the school staff will arrange appointments at the local medical centre or hospital.

A member of staff will accompany your child to their appointment. 

As visitors to the UK, nationals of some countries are entitled to free emergency treatment on the NHS (National Health Service). However, where the condition is deemed to be pre-existing, the NHS always reserves the right to charge for treatment. Charges can be expensive, so we advise that your insurance includes comprehensive medical cover. Students from EEA countries are advised to bring their European Health Card with them. They may also need to purchase travel insurance to cover their stay, as even with your card not all medical costs will be covered.

All students are asked to hand in any oral medication they may have with them. Oral medication will only be administered to students with the consent of a guardian.

We have one staff member for every 12 students on excursions. Their role is to guide and supervise students during excursions, assist students where necessary and ensure their safety while off site. There will be a member of the management team at each excursion to coordinate this.

Students eat three meals per day in the dining hall. Breakfast at 7.30am, lunch at 12.30pm and dinner at 6.00pm. Refreshments are also made available at break times.

Children are offered a variety of meals throughout each week and different dietary needs can be catered for; a sample menu can be provided upon request. An on-site coffee shop sells drinks and snacks, alongside a drink and snack vending machine. Children may also arrange to visit the village shop if needed.

We aim to have classrooms of 14-17 students per class.

We have had over 30 different nationalities attending the Summer School.

Some students will need to obtain a visa to travel to the UK, please check the government website here.

From 2025 the UK government has added countries to the ETA scheme. The UK ETA scheme is a new system that requires non-visa nationals to obtain an ETA before travelling to the UK as a Visitor.

It's the responsibility of the individual to obtain an ETA before travel, we do not need to see evidence of the ETA before they visit Felsted. The ETA will be checked by airlines/carriers before departure, any individual not in possession of the correct documentation will be refused carriage. Check if and when you should apply here.

Felsted International Summer School does not arrange comprehensive / any other travel insurance for Summer School students. Please make sure you obtain the necessary insurance cover for your child / children in your own country to cover personal possessions and medical expenses.

Senior students are welcome to carry their phones with them during their stay. They may not, however, take or receive calls during classes. 

Our Summer School schedule is intense, so your child may not be reachable during the day if they are on an excursion, taking part in sports activities or their chosen academy. At the end of the day, once back in their boarding house, they may ask permission from their House Parent to use their phone to make calls home. This will likely be from 8pm onwards.

Junior students will only have access to their phones in the evening for 1 hour. This will likely be after 7.00pm. (GMT)
