Academic Pathways
Junior Programme
In the Junior Programme, students focus exclusively on English Language learning, building strong foundations in reading, writing, speaking and listening.
Senior Programme
In the Senior Programme, there are two Academic Pathways to choose from, English Language or Advanced English with Global Studies.

English Language (A1-B1 Levels)
Designed for international students, this pathway develops foundational skills in reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Using engaging, content-rich topics, it supports learners from beginner to intermediate levels in building confidence and accuracy in everyday communication.

Advanced English with Global Studies (B2-C2 Levels)
Ideal for learners at upper-intermediate level and above, this pathway blends advanced language development with thought-provoking global themes. Through discussion, analysis, and collaborative projects, students develop fluency, critical thinking, and academic English skills. It is equally beneficial for native speakers seeking to refine and expand their language and communication skills.
In both Pathways, our teaching follows the CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) methodology, meaning that students learn through engaging topics and subject content, while simultaneously developing their English.
No matter what their starting level, the entire programme is designed as a language acquisition journey, fully aligned with Cambridge University standards, the British Council and the CEFR framework.
Native English speakers enhance their knowledge and academic skills while improving their English to meet GCSE standards, offering valuable preparation for success at both GCSE and A Level.

Online Placements
At Felsted International Summer School, we use AI-enhanced, adaptive online assessments to place students in English classes accurately. Students are assessed from home on their English skills and then placed into classes that correspond to their assessed level, ensuring a personalised and effective learning experience.
Each student receives an assessment report confirming their achieved level of English, based on the internationally recognised CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference). Upon completion of the summer school programme, students receive a certificate of completion from Felsted International Summer School, which states the level of English achieved.
The online placements are mandatory for all international students and optional for native speakers.
