Well done to everyone who took part over Week 9 in our first ever Virtual Sports Day - we were absolutely overwhelmed with its popularity and success. Over 206 pupils took part!

Welcome to your first Virtual Sports Day!

With the Summer Terms major sports event having to be called off this year, we have gone virtual! All pupils will have the opportunity to represent their League in Week 9 in as many events as they wish (maximum of 10) for Felsted Prep School's virtual Sports Day.

We are delighted that you will be part of this week and hope you enjoy the activities and tasks that have been created in order to receive points for your League. Each specific task, with detailed instructions, will be found through clicking on each tab below. Immerse yourself in each of the events, wear your League top with pride and we look forward to seeing you shine!

Events will go live at 10am on Monday 22nd June and last submission is at 7pm on Sunday 28th June. Good luck! Have a practice at each before you submit your results with your best scores.

Should you wish to print the instructions for each event and take it with you click here. This site can be accessed from any device whilst you are out and about so you can look back at the videos for reference at any point.
We advise that you practice each event as many times as you can before measurement/timing in order to achieve your best score.
You only get the opportunity to submit the form once.
You must upload video evidence of taking part in the events you choose. This can easily be added to the form. Make sure it is your best take!
You should be in your house colours (face paints optional!)

You will be submitting your results by phase.

Please note: You can only submit the form once and ensure you complete the correct form. They are titled Ffrome Court, Cloisters and Courtauld House.

Speed Bounce

Speed Bounce

An activity to test your agility and speed of movement. Perform as many side-to-side speed bounces over a mini obstacle as you can in one minute. There and back counts as one. Use the tutorial video to help you. Top tip: Be on your toes and use small quick jumps.

Marathon Challenge

Marathon Challenge

A test of speed endurance. How far can you run in your time limit. Mark out 10m and count how many lengths you complete in your time limit.

Top tip: Don’t go out too fast.

Grab the Bag

Grab the Bag

This activity is testing your speed, change of direction and how well you can pick up an item and move it between 5m, 10m and 15m. Find a space where you can complete this task and place a cone, shoe or object to signify 5m, 10m and 15m. Please refer to the video demonstration to help you. This is a relay shuttle against time to move all three objects to each distance and back again as fast as you can.

Plank

Testing your core and mental strength in this activity, which is to hold a plank for as long as you can. Watch the demonstration video and remember to keep your back straight and focus on your breathing to help you concentrate.

Overhead Football/Netball Throw

Overhead Football/Netball throw

Throw the football/netball as far as you can with both hands on the ball and from your overhead position. Mark a line (signified with cones or shoes) and overhead throw the ball as far as you can. Ask someone to put down a cone, shoe or object to where your ball lands for you to then measure that distance. Top tip: Lean back before you throw to generate momentum and having one leg in front of the other will help you with your distance. You must throw from a static position (no run ups or steps allowed!)

Throw and Catch

Test your hand-eye coordination and concentration for one minute in the throw and catch task. Find a wall either inside or outside and take two steps back from the wall. Underarm throw and catch the ball with either one or two hands as many times as you can in one minute. If you drop it, don’t worry – just carry on from where you were up to!

Top tip: Focus on throwing the ball at belly button height to reach your maximum. A tennis ball works best for this event.

Agility Run

Agility Run

Set up your area with 5 cones (markers). One in the middle and four 3 metres from the centre point on each corner making a diamond shape. You must always face forwards (towards the camera). Start in the middle and work your way around each cone in any order you like. You must touch each cone and return to the centre each time. In order to complete the run you must touch each outer cone two times. The event starts and finishes in the middle. Please use the tutorial video to help you.

Top tip: stay low and use your arms to help you accelerate.

Balance Event

Balance Challenge

Good balance is crucial to staying fit and healthy. Take this balance challenge to see how you stack up. Get your stopwatch ready!

Slowly shift your weight onto your foot of choice, lift your other leg in front of you and bend the knee to a 90-degree angle - try to hold for as long as you can!

Top tip: Find a gaze point on the floor in front of you and don't move your eyes from that spot!

This tests your whole body strength. Mark out 10m. The aim is to complete the distance in the quickest time possible on your hands and feet. Keep low to the ground. Top Tip: Don’t go too fast so you over balance.

Standing Long Jump

Standing Long Jump

This tests your power. Jump as far as you can from a standing position as demonstrated in the video. Mark a jump line (signified with cones or shoes) and jump from a standing start and land on two feet. Measure from your jumping position to where the back of your back foot heel lands.
