Named TES Boarding School of the Year in 2023, Felsted is one of the longest established schools in the country and in 2024 celebrated its 460 year anniversary.

Since its foundation in 1564 by Richard Lord Riche, who at the peak of his career had been Lord Chancellor under King Edward VI, Felsted has continued to equip young people with an excellent all-round education and the all-important skills, confidence and determination to use it to make a positive difference in the world around them.

An independent co-educational boarding and day school for around 1000 pupils aged 4 to 18, Felsted is set on a 90 acre village campus in the north Essex countryside, 40 miles from both London and Cambridge and just 15 minutes from Stansted airport.

We employ more than 600 staff  in a community orientated environment, ensuring our pupils receive the very best in learning and co-curricular activities.

Safer Recruitment

Felsted is committed to equal opportunities and maintaining a safe and secure environment for all pupils and a ‘culture of vigilance’ to safeguard and protect all in its care, and to all aspects of its ‘Safeguarding (Child Protection and Staff Behaviour) Policy’. Please note, it is an offence to apply for any positions if barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children.  All employees are subject to pre-employment checks including a Disclosure and Barring Service check.

Safeguarding (Child Protection and Staff Behaviour) Policy

Key to the school’s success is our staff, and our continued investment in professional development ensures that high standards are maintained throughout the school.

We are committed to attracting, developing and retaining the best people, to create a diverse, inclusive and non discriminative environment, where everyone is treated with dignity and respect to ensure the very best in the delivery of excellent learning and teaching to our students.

Our current vacancies are listed on this page. Please read through our 'Application Guide' below before applying.
