Squash

Squash is one of Felsted's most up and coming sports, rising in popularity year on year. With two squash courts on site Felsted is fortunate to have two qualified and experienced coaches with over 30 years' playing experience each.

In the Prep School, pupils are able to participate in weekly group squash coaching sessions organised by one of Felsted’s England Licensed coaches. In the Senior School, students may opt to play as part of their games programme on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday afternoons, all year round. Sessions form part of the School's Squash Development Plan, which provides a pathway allowing players to enhance and develop their playing skills as they mature and move through the School.

Fixtures involving pupils from Years 5 upwards are held with other local schools throughout the year, alongside the following competitions:

  • Essex Junior Squash Grand Prix Series Events
  • Squash England Connaught Open Bronze Event
  • Essex Junior Open
  • IAPS Nationals
  • Marconi SASC Easter Challenge
  • National Schools’ Squash Competition
  • Essex Junior Squash Grand Prix Series
  • Squash England Tournaments

Felsted also has a strong link with the ‘Off The Wall Squash Academy’ in Colchester, which manages Essex and Eastern Regional Age Group squash, arranging regular round robin fixtures providing a valuable opportunity for Felstedians to play lots of different players and get a taste of competition in a friendly environment.

One-to-one coaching and holiday camps are also available for pupils of all ages who wish to develop their playing skills further.
