Hunter & Wallis Scholarships
Hunter and Wallis Scholarships will be awarded to pupils showing exceptional talent in Mathematics and Science and whose aspiration is to study these subjects at the highest level at University and beyond.
It is expected that the Wallis Scholar will study Mathematics and Further Mathematics at A Level. It is expected that the Hunter Scholar will study at least two of the three Sciences (Biology, Chemistry and Physics) at A Level or as part of the IB Diploma Programme.
Candidates are expected to be academically able and inquisitive and should, when they leave, be capable of gaining admission to Oxford or Cambridge or another top university.

The Wallis Scholarship is named in recognition of Old Felstedian John Wallis (1629-34). Fellow of the Royal Society, Mathematician and Divine and Savilian Professor of Geometry, Oxford University, Wallis is most famous for introducing the symbol for infinity.

Assessment
Pupils receiving the top GCSE grades (or equivalent) and who are studying at least two sciences at either A Level or at Higher Level in the IB, or Maths and Further Maths at A Level or Maths at Higher Level in the IB, may be awarded either the Hunter Scholarship (Science) or Wallis Scholarship (Maths) in the first half of the Autumn Term of their Year 12.
Candidates will be also interviewed by the Headmaster and Head of Mathematics or Science. This is in addition to the standard entry assessment.
