Felsted is an award-winning independent school, overseen by a board of governors who agree the fee levels each year. Founded by Richard Lord Riche in 1564, Felsted School is a charity (no. 310870) and as such reinvests any surplus made back into the school, ensuring that future generations of Felstedians receive the very finest of a British education that their predecessors have experienced over the past 460 years.

We appreciate what a commitment it is for parents to pay for a leading education. Felsted aims to keep its fees as low as possible and sits at a very competitive level compared to schools of a similar type nationally.

New Fee Structure from September 2026

A change in the structure of the school week for Years 3 to 6 has enabled a significant reduction in fees across these year groups.

Changes to the shape of the Junior School Day

Beginning in September, we are moving to a highly impactful five-day week, with a refined school day from 8.20am to 4.30pm for Years 3 to 6.

Our commitment to a broad, holistic education remains unwavering. The new structure enables us to:

Maintain our excellence in core co-curricular areas including Drama, Sport, and Music.
Embed Academic Enrichment sessions within the school day, providing outcomes such as exhibitions, performances and community projects that foster intrinsic motivation.

Flexible Wrap-Around Care & Specialist Activities

Breakfast Club & Afternoon Care: Ensuring a seamless start and end to the day.
Continued Specialist Activities: Pupils will have access to high-quality external coaching in Horse Riding, Martial Arts, Dance and Golf, all conveniently delivered as part of the extended day options.

There are some extra charges for the supply of books in the Sixth Form, for Examination fees and certain minority sports. Extra charges may also occur if pupils make purchases at the Tailor’s Shop or if they join some of the School’s Societies or go on outings. Music fees are charged for instrumental tuition. Parents should expect to receive up to six invoices per academic year. Core School fees are invoiced termly in advance and are due for payment before the first day of the term to which they relate. Invoices for any additional charges will be raised on a termly basis, in arrears.
