Senior School (ages 13-16)
We understand what a big decision it is for you to choose the right school for your child. We aim to make the process as simple as possible and have a number of options below for you to get to know Felsted. Please also read through our admissions procedures for each entry point, found at the bottom of this page.
1. Open Mornings
You are welcome to join us for a Whole School or Sixth Form Open Morning, which are held on a Saturday in May and September each year, where you will be able to hear our Headmaster speak, meet our teachers and be taken on a tour of the Senior School by one of our young Felstedians. You are also welcome to stay and enjoy a delicious school lunch and watch any fixtures that are being held in the afternoon.
2. Taster Days/Nights
We can arrange for your child to spend a taster day and/or night with us, at a time to suit you, so that they can get to know Felsted better. Your child will be accompanied by a buddy from the same year group to sample a mixture of academic lessons, co-curricular activities, sport, social time, meals and time in one of our boarding or day houses.
For Year 9 entry, we hold an Enrichment Day in the June, one year prior to entry, for children to get to sample our range of activities and to get to know Felsted better. An Induction Day is then held in the June prior to entry for children to meet their peer group in their allocated boarding or day house.
3. Individual Visit
Book an individual visit at your convenience to meet the Headmaster or a member of the Senior Leadership Team, a House Master or House Mistress, and enjoy a full tour of the Senior School by one our young Felstedians, including a boarding or day house. Please allow at least two hours for this visit.
Register with us
We encourage you to register with us by completing our Registration Form and fee as soon as you are ready; once we have this, you are then included on our list of applicants for the appropriate year and will be contacted for testing days. Please contact the Admissions Office before registering, to ensure we have places remaining.

In the Spring Term of Year 6 we warmly invite all registered pupils to sit the ISEB Common Pre-Test Assessment, prior to joining Felsted Senior School in Year 9. The on-line assessment will comprise of Verbal Reasoning, Non-Verbal Reasoning, English and Mathematics, which lasts approximately two and half hours in total. It is important to stress that no special preparation is required, as the pre-tests are designed to identify potential, as well as attainment. The aim is to provide parents with the security of a place and the time to make appropriate schooling plans for their sons or daughters.
The entry process also includes a Headmaster interview and a confidential Year 8 Spring Term report, from your child's current school, which will be used for setting purposes into Year 9.
No further assessment will be required, unless the Headmaster invites your son or daughter to sit for our Academic Scholarship in the February prior to the year of entry.

Registered pupils are invited to sit Verbal Reasoning, Mathematics and English Assessments to be considered for a place in Year 10. Places are offered based on this assessment, a confidential report from their current school and an interview with the Headmaster.
