Felsted 2.6 Challenge

The Covid-19 pandemic has had a catastrophic effect with the cancellation of thousands of events and the loss of billions in income through fundraising events. The London Marathon should have taken place on Sunday 26 April, one of the world’s biggest one-day fundraising events, which raised more than £66.4 million for thousands of charities in 2019. Many of these charities have had to reduce or stop services at a time when vulnerable members of society need them most; thousands of staff have been placed on furlough and many charities will not survive the next few months.

How we can help CHESS

Chess or Churches Homeless Emergency Support Scheme, seeks to relieve homelessness and related hardship and distress amongst single adults in Chelmsford and Essex, through the provision of support services and temporary accommodation that helps them move on in their lives. By donating a sum of your choice, a proportion of the money will go towards this charity in helping to provide food, accommodation and health and well-being services to enable those less fortunate than ourselves to rejoin society as useful members. We are not only accepting money; artwork would be a great display of personal desire to help brighten their day. We hope to raise enough money that will help us to donate and create beds for CHESS charity, make the rooms colourful, full of YOUR posters that you can create to make their shelter a home. With enough money raised we will be able to take students to the shelter in the summer to create some of the following:

- £250 - Will go towards the paints and equipment needed to decorate the house

- £500 - Will go towards soft furnishings

- £1000 - Will go towards IT equipment in the training facility of the property. This would enable the charity to deliver training, life-skills courses and facilitate clients bidding on future housing within the council.
