Safi Coffee - No Ordinary Coffee - No Ordinary Story
Safi Coffee to launch in the Felsted Coffee Shop!

Safi Coffee is a special pupil-led initiative that imports Ugandan coffee to sell across the UK, in partnership with Hull Collegiate School and Highgate School. Through links with Teach Uganda, one of Felsted’s core charities, the school teams discovered that the coffee grown in the South West Region of the country is one of the best tasting coffees in the world. Felstedians visit Uganda every two years, teaching in schools and working in the community where they tend to their coffee plantation.

Safi raises vital funds to help change lives in the region. Sadly many children do not get the chance to attend school. It costs just £180 to fund a child to attend school for a full year including accommodation, food, water and healthcare.

The Felsted Environment & Service Group are supporting this initiative, alongside three Felsted Year 12 IB Diploma students (Millie Adshead-Grant, Scarlet Walker-Hebborn and Konstantin Eise (Cookie)) who are involved as part of their enterprise project. They will be working to redesign our coffee shop and work with parents and local businesses to promote and sell Safi Coffee. All profits pay for Ugandan children to attend school.

Be a Safi Ambassador!

Why not! We have no extravagant management salaries to pay, no shareholders to satisfy. Just a group of pupils determined to make a difference.

If you would like to get involved, please contact Helen Knight, Parent Safi Ambassador on helenknight_24@hotmail.com or our Felsted Chaplain on chaplain@felsted.org.

Be a Safi Business!

Why don’t you get your business to be part of this great initiative and invite one of our student ambassadors to visit your business to see how you can make a difference and enjoy great coffee!

Email Helen Knight, Parent Safi Ambassador on helenknight_24@hotmail.com or our Felsted Chaplain on chaplain@felsted.org to get involved.

Raising awareness of the project is our number one aim; ultimately, the more people that are drinking Safi Coffee, the more children we can put through school in Uganda. Fuelling offices and workspaces with Safi Coffee has allowed us to increase the number of children we sponsor up to 50; this a real testament to the success of the initiative, demonstrating how far the project has come in such a short space of time.

Tom Brown, Director of Safi Coffee CIC

As a Trustee of Teach Uganda, I am delighted that Felsted School has embraced the opportunity to promote Safi Coffee amongst its community. The coffee beans are grown in Uganda, shipped directly to the UK for roasting and packaging and then distributed direct to Felsted. As a result we are able to ensure that the funds raised from our sales are sent directly back to help the children of Uganda. It is wonderful for our students to be in an entrepreneurial partnership with other young people in Hull, Highgate and Uganda.

Nigel Little, Chaplain, Felsted School & Trustee of Teach Uganda

Felsted School is delighted to become a Safi partner with Hull Collegiate School and Highgate School. For our students to be involved in such a worthwhile initiative is rewarding for all. Some of our pupils have been to Uganda themselves and have seen the impact of what additional funds can do to transform a child’s life by giving them access to an education. This is provided through Teach Uganda, one of the four core charities we support here at Felsted.

Chris Townsend, Headmaster, Felsted School

The more we can do to spread the word of Safi Coffee and increase its use at school and amongst our community, the more we can do to help educate children in Uganda. Our student led initiatives to promote Safi are ambitious and we look forward to seeing the difference they can make to children in Uganda.

Sophy Walker, Director of Marketing, Felsted School
