Stocks's House has a warm, caring and friendly environment where
girls are encouraged to achieve their maximum potential in all areas of
the School. Talent abounds in all directions in Stocks's - academic,
artistic, musical and sporting - but more important is the sense of a
supportive, caring community.
Stocks's girls make the most of any opportunity to bring the whole
house together. Birthdays are celebrated with pizzas and birthday cake.
On fireworks night there are sparklers and sometimes have a small
fireworks display accompanied by hot dogs. At the end of the night we do
apple bobbing which often ends in fits of laughter. On pancake day the
house gets together to have pancakes - this year we ate 88 all together,
with 2 bottles of maple syrup, a bottle of lemon juice and two bowls of
Stocks's House is located in a beautiful position close to The Bury,
Chapel and Gepp's House. It has a warm, caring and friendly environment
where girls are encouraged to achieve their maximum potential in all
areas of the School. Year 9 girls share modern and bright dormitory
accommodation. In Years 10, 11 and Lower Sixth, the girls have their own
single rooms. These rooms are brightly decorated with posters and
pictures and have a homely feel. The girls have a kitchen to use and two
common rooms in which to relax and catch up with friends.

Meet the Housemistress
Frances Marshall is the Housemistress of Stocks's. Frances has two grown-up daughters and is supported by her husband, Philip, and their two Labradors (Remy and Figgy) and their Siamese cat, (Dudley).
Frances teaches history and is passionate about sport, particularly hockey and rounders.
Meet the Assistant Housemistress
Wiz (Elizabeth) Hampson-Smith (Miss H-S to the girls) became Stocks's Assistant Housemistress at the end of 2006 after being a tutor in the house for 4 years. She joined Felsted as an Artist in Residence in September 2001 and has been teaching full time in the Art department ever since.
Miss H-S is the proud owner of a white Boxer dog (Bowzer), who is often in the house amusing the girls. She is a very able artist and promotes the use of the girls' art work throughout the House. Miss H-S ran the London Marathon in April 2011 (on her birthday), raising over £2000 for Mencap in the process. She is currently training for her first triathlon and can often be found giving the girls fitness and training tips or joining them for a yoga session in the Sixth Form common room.
Miss H-S is also in charge of sustainability which means Stocks's House leads the way with recycling and energy saving issues in the School. The House's annual "swishing" event, during House charity week, promotes an eco-friendly "shopping" experience, encouraging team building across the year groups and within the different boarding houses.
Stocks's House also provides a substantial amount of the raw ingredients for the Sustainability Team's apple juice project which runs in the autumn term.
