Felsted has a reputation for drama productions of the very highest quality. Drama overall makes a significant contribution to the extra-curricular life of the School. Felsted's Hunt Theatre is equipped technically to the standard of any small professional theatre: the extensive facilities include flexible seating, fully computerised lighting and sound controls, an impressive range of lanterns and sound equipment, dressing room facilities, a front-of-house box office and a licensed bar. Larger scale productions tend to be put on in the School's majestic Grignon Hall, which can seat an audience of 400.

There is a very wide range of annual productions. The School Play usually involves a large number of pupils, both on stage and behind the scenes, and the emphasis is on variety. There are three main plays a year, including a junior play. Recent senior plays have included Amadeus, Cabaret, Grease, Sound of Music as well as Lysistrata by Aristophares and Mort by Terry Practchett. Recent junior plays include “And Then There Were None”, "Ghost Train" and "Lydia". Ambitious overseas tours, particularly to the USA, are becoming a major feature of the drama programme.

The annual junior production tours the east of England after performances at Felsted. Shows produced by the individual houses are also very popular and offer invaluable experience for pupils in acting and directing.
Under the guidance of the School's Head of Drama and full-time Theatre Manager, enthusiastic pupils may learn to be responsible for all technical aspects of drama, including sound, lighting, make-up, and wardrobe. There are also many opportunities for pupils to direct productions. Drama is offered in Year 9 as part of English and also an A Level subject in the Sixth Form. Scholarships are also available.
