Felsted is situated in an attractive village, 35 miles from both Cambridge and London. Chelmsford is the nearest centre and is 10 miles away. Stansted airport is within 20 minutes drive, but the village is not under the flight path. The School was founded in 1564 and was a founder member of the HMC. There are approximately 516 pupils in the Senior School between the ages of 13 and 18 of whom 236 are in the Sixth Form. Girls have been admitted to the Sixth Form for many years and the School became fully co-educational in September 1994. Felsted has eight boarding houses; four for boys and three for girls and there are two day houses. The majority of pupils are boarders. Almost all Sixth Form leavers embark on Further or Higher Education. Felsted has its own co-educational Preparatory School of 460 pupils, aged 4-12, with a small boarding element.
