
Richard and his wife Lisa believe that every child should have the opportunity and support to develop their strengths, be it academic, music, drama or sport, which are best done in a friendly, caring House environment.
Richard has been a Housemaster of Mont's for some years, looking after boarding boys prior to its change into a day boys house in September 2007. Whilst at Felsted Richard has been Head of Mathematics, Housemaster of Manor House, Director of Studies, Second Deputy Head and is currently an Independent Schools Inspector. His interests are golf (handicap 17.6 at present and in charge of the School Golf Team), skiing, bridge, theatre and the cinema.
His wife Lisa is a reception teacher at Felsted Pre-Preparatory School and has taught at Felsted for 11 years. Together they have four daughters; Anna, Laura, Kate and Charlotte and a son; Tom.
Richard Feldman was born in London near Lords and educated at Haberdashers’ Askes School Elstree. He played in the first teams for rugby and hockey and captained the second XI cricket. He also pole vaulted for the athletics team. He then went on to play schoolboy county sport in rugby and hockey.
After a gap year in Germany delivering beer Richard read Mathematics at U.C.L. London and then gained his PGCE from Goldsmith’s College, London. Whilst at University Richard continued to play rugby and also represented London University at Ballroom Dancing ! (The Jive).
His first teaching post was at a social priority school in Penge and from there he went to teach at KEGS in Chelmsford. Whilst at KEGS he started studying for an MSc. at Birkbeck College, London which he successfully completed the following year, his first at Felsted. During this time sport naturally could not be neglected and he played for Bishop’s Stortford RFC 1st XV who won the county cup and played for Hertfordshire Clubs XV.
