Kay joined Felsted in September 2004 as Swimming Pools Manager and Teacher i/c of Swimming across The Felsted Schools. She moved up the road from her post at the local primary school where she worked for seven years. She is the Sports Administrator for Felsted School collating all results and managing the sports website. In September 2007 she was appointed Assistant House Mistress to help establish Manor.

She lives locally in the village with her two children, both of whom attend Felsted School.
