Boarding at Felsted

Boarding life allows a child to grow in independence whilst in a caring and stimulating environment. Valuable skills are gained through organising free time, living with other people and, of course, strong friendships are made for life. Extra time that can be lost on the school run can be used for extra-curricular activities or additional study time.

House accommodation includes a variety of study-bedrooms, small dormitories, studies, common rooms and recreational facilities where day pupils and home boarders are fully integrated with the residents.  The School eats together for all meals and pupils have access to a Tuck Shop within school grounds.

Boarders at Felsted live in a House of about 55 boys or girls aged 13-17 under the care of a resident Housemaster or Housemistress.  They have the advantage of learning to live in a small community, taking responsibility for themselves and the other members of that community.  They are able to take full advantage of all the facilities and opportunities Felsted offers, with friends always available to join them in sport or relaxation.   For their final year at Felsted, boarders join an Upper Sixth Boarding House which allows them to focus on their exams in a more mature envionment, preparing them for University Life.

The boarding fee includes:

  • Tuition in small classes
  • Academic monitoring and pastoral care by a  Housemaster or Housemistress or a Tutor
  • A study room in the House
  • Full programme of sports and activities
  • Excellent facilities for music, art and drama

  • A wide range of weekend and evening activities
  • 24 hour care by House Staff
