Deacons is one of the few houses that has abandoned the old, outdated system of pupils having two rooms (one communal room where 5-6 pupils work, and another purely for sleeping in), and instead every boarder lives in a bed-sit room with just 4 other people at the maximum.  This allows for greater organization, and more freedom.  With each student only having one room, the rooms can be more spacious.
