We welcome any pupil from Year 4 (aged 8) who wishes to board either as a full-time boarder or a flexi-boarder. Felsted Preparatory School is fully committed to boarding and encourages pupils to experience the many benefits that living within a community can bring. Boarding promotes a sense of independence and fun – the environment is caring and safe, while allowing children the chance to develop socially and emotionally. The children love the rich programme of evening activities and supervised study is essential.
Full boarders are joined by flexi-boarders who stay at school for one, two, three or four nights a week on a regular basis. Flexi-boarding is a chance to try the experience of boarding in preparation for full boarding at a later date, or sometimes simply a chance to be with your friends overnight and have fun. There is always a matron on duty to deal with regular medication, first aid and minor bumps and bruises. For anything more serious, a fully qualified doctor and nurses are instantly available at the Senior Medical Centre.

Pupils who board five nights are classed as full boarders (Monday – Friday inclusive) and have the option of returning on Sunday night for free. Full boarders continue to have their own bed and benefit from the laundry service.
