Curriculum

The curriculum at this stage aims to establish a firm foundation in literacy and numeracy skills.

Reading is emphasised in the early years, and we use a range of resources to help the children to acquire this vital skill.  The majority of subject lessons are taught by a class teacher which provides continuity and security. However, all children receive weekly lessons from specialist teachers in French and ICT.

 Learning outside the classroom

During the Spring term the pupils in the Pre-Preparatory enjoy a day at Hatfield Forest.  The pupils get stuck in to all the activities and a considerable amount of mud! The morning is spent in organised activities with staff at the education department, and after a picnic lunch the children have fun in small mixed age groups, exploring the forest, building dens and playing in an exciting environment.
